It has been released today that the sequel to the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is being filmed, due to be released late next year, The Girl In The Spiders Web is the fourth instalment of the Millennium ‘trilogy’.
It is however being made with out the two main members of the cast as Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara have refused to be in the sequel – it’s rumoured to be because of pay cuts.
So producers Scott Rudin and Amy Pascal are now on the mission to find new leads and the rumour mill has spurted some names for us today that have made fans of Dragon Tattoo very excited. Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson are the main two actresses who have been announced, I’m sure they both could portray one of the biggest protagonists of the last century with them both playing many roles where they are complete badasses.
It hasn’t yet been released who could take up the role of Blomkvist, previously played by Daniel Craig.
Speaking to Sky News Director, Fede Alvarez said that he’s “hugely excited and grateful” for the opportunity to continue what Fincher started, saying “Salander is the kind of character any director dreams of bringing to life”.
“We’ve got a great script and now comes the most fun part – finding our Lisbeth.”
Keep an eye out for any update to do with the next instalment.
